Framing

The travel search process at AIDA predominantly followed the same pattern: users navigated from a teaser or a traditional search results page to the corresponding offer. However, this approach lacked immersion and the sense of travel and adventure.

Outcome

  • Conceptualization of the “Travel Wizard” app
  • Creation of initial screen design mockups
  • Generated interest from AIDA stakeholders
  • Project was eventually deprioritized in favor of the AIDA app and homepage facelift

Approach

To address the lack of immersion in the travel search process, we developed the idea of the “Travel Wizard” app. This app would use a world map to make various travel destinations accessible and allow direct booking on the respective ships. The design was intended to be playful, featuring a 3D aesthetic to evoke excitement and a sense of adventure. We created a rough concept and initial screen design mockups, which garnered interest from AIDA. Despite the positive reception, the project was eventually set aside in favor of developing the AIDA app and updating the AIDA homepage.

Learnings

  • The importance of immersion and adventure in enhancing user experience
  • The value of innovative concepts in capturing stakeholder interest
  • The necessity of prioritization and strategic decision-making in project development
  • The potential for playful, visually engaging designs to enhance user engagement and excitement
